  • Preliminary estimate only. This analysis is for informational purposes and does not constitute an engineering assessment, structural evaluation, or installation recommendation. A licensed professional engineer must evaluate structural capacity, electrical requirements, and local building codes before any installation.
  • Validated accuracy. Nameplate capacity validated against the Elemex Oceanside BIPV installation (206 kW DC measured) at +1.5% error. Annual production validated at +4.4% system-total error using NREL PVWatts v8 with weather and albedo corrections. Accuracy figures reflect BIPV curtain-wall systems on well-defined building geometry; accuracy for retrofit wall-mount, non-curtain-wall cladding, or buildings with unusual shading conditions may vary.
  • Usable wall area is approximate. The ground floor exclusion and usable percentage are configurable estimates. Actual usable area depends on windows, doors, HVAC penetrations, signage, architectural features, and structural constraints that require on-site evaluation.
  • Structural capacity not evaluated. This analysis does not assess whether the building walls can support the weight of mounted solar panels. A licensed structural engineer must evaluate wall load capacity, attachment methods, and wind/seismic loads before any installation proceeds.
  • Energy production estimates. Solar energy calculations use the NREL PVWatts v8 API for vertical wall-mounted systems. Actual production varies based on panel selection, inverter efficiency, wiring losses, soiling, degradation, and local weather patterns.
  • Building data sources. Building footprints sourced primarily from OpenStreetMap (real building polygons), with Mapbox as a secondary fallback and a generic 150×80 ft approximation as a last resort. The data-quality badge above each result indicates which source produced your polygon. Solar irradiance and energy production powered by NREL PVWatts v8. Obstruction analysis uses neighboring building heights from Mapbox and may not reflect all real-world shading conditions (trees, future construction, temporary structures).
  • Financial estimates. Savings calculations use EIA state-level commercial electricity rates (updated annually) with optional customer-class adjustments (medical, educational, industrial, etc.) for known rate schedule differences. Actual savings depend on the specific utility tariff, demand charges, net metering policies, and applicable incentives (ITC, state/local rebates). Consult your utility bill for the applicable rate.
